The Area Manager will be responsible for all of the HCS activities in the area, will liaising closely with our NHS Wales partners to ensure quality service delivery and performance in line with HCS & Supply Chain Standard Operating Procedures and legislative compliance.
Separately, the post holder will lead in a particular area of operations for the department to include for example Fleet, Health & Safety, Risk or Performance.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
NHS Wales Health Courier Services (HCS) provides Clinical & Non Clinical Logistics and Supply Chain Distribution services across all Health Boards in Wales, and is seeking an Area Manager to join the team for the Cardiff and Vale and Cwm Taf area.
The combined services of HCS & Supply Chain distribute and transport some million items across Wales per a year, both clinical and non clinical in nature.
On average the service sorts (via its own mail sorting hubs), delivers and collects up to, items of mail/medical notes per week, and transports over million clinical movements of samples of Blood, Blood Products Pathology and Pharmacy in accordance with Transport of Dangerous Goods legislative requirements per year.
Core services operate between am and pm Monday to Friday. However, we do operate a range of services hours a day in a number of Health Board areas.
Responsibilities will include Management of HCS services, Service level Agreement Performance, Operational Service Delivery to ensure high quality service provision to all partners, service users and patients (Home Care Consumables).
