About the Role
We are seeking an accomplished
Chief Operating Officer (COO)
to drive
business development and research-driven growth
for our expanding pharmaceutical business in the United Kingdom. This senior leadership position will play a pivotal role in shaping strategic partnerships, advancing R&D initiatives, and steering the company's innovation-led expansion in global markets.
The ideal candidate will bring a
blend of commercial acumen and scientific depth
, with proven success in
business development, licensing, partnerships, and R&D strategy
within the pharmaceutical industry. Experience in leading cross-border teams, particularly across South Asia and Europe, will be highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead
business development strategy
, including global partnerships, licensing opportunities, and new market entry.
* Oversee and strengthen the
R&D pipeline
to ensure alignment with evolving therapeutic and market needs.
* Identify and drive
strategic collaborations
with academic institutions, CROs, and global pharma players.
* Support product innovation and lifecycle management by aligning R&D priorities with commercial objectives.
* Represent the company with external stakeholders, investors, and regulatory bodies at a global level.
* Work closely with leadership teams in the UK and South Asia to ensure seamless cross-cultural collaboration and execution.
* Contribute to long-term corporate strategy and board-level decision-making.
Key Requirements
* Graduate/Postgraduate in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, or related discipline; an MBA or advanced business qualification is desirable.
* 15–20 years of progressive leadership experience in
business development, R&D management, or strategic leadership roles
within the pharmaceutical sector.
* Strong network and proven track record in
global partnerships, licensing deals, and R&D collaborations
.
* Deep understanding of pharmaceutical innovation, regulatory pathways, and global market dynamics.
* Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
* Prior
experience working with or leading teams in South Asia (India preferred)
will be a significant advantage.
