The Role
An exciting opportunity for a Catastrophe Risk Analyst to join a leading Exposure Management team at one of Lloyd’s largest syndicates. The successful candidate will deliver cutting-edge analytics to stakeholders across the business for the Specialty and Natural Resources lines, which have seen significant growth over the last 12 months. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate looking to have a material impact at a top Lloyd’s syndicate and global (re)insurer.
As an analyst, you will work closely with multiple underwriting teams and have the ability to influence the risk selection process. You will collaborate with various internal stakeholders to ensure timely modelling analytics that support risk pricing and catastrophe management goals.
Responsibilities
* Develop relationships with underwriters to align underwriting and catastrophe management goals, delivering analytics that inform risk selection, especially for technical and innovative risks.
* Utilize RMS and other tools to provide analysis on individual accounts and portfolios.
* Contribute to creating new tools and dashboards to streamline catastrophe modelling and data visualization.
* Collaborate with the Natural Catastrophe Management team across regions to ensure consistent risk assessments and cross-region analytics.
* Create narratives from modelling data to summarize risks and advise underwriters on data and model uncertainties.
* Work with underwriters on complex, non-modelled risks outside the scope of vendor models.
* Communicate risk metrics effectively to stakeholders.
* Coordinate with the Analytics and Reporting team for timely data delivery for internal and external reports.
Skills and Experience
* Experience in a catastrophe modelling role; RMS experience is highly desirable, with Specialty/Natural Resources experience advantageous.
* Strong mathematical and statistical skills, highly numerate and logical.
* Excellent communication skills to influence, negotiate, and listen.
* Proficiency in manipulating large data sets using Excel and SQL.
* Experience with Microsoft Power BI is desirable.
* Intermediate/Advanced MS SQL skills, with ability to build and optimize queries.
* Knowledge of programming languages such as VBA, .NET, R, or Python is a plus.
