Diabetes Specialist Nurse

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Band 7 Inpatient Diabetes Specialist Nurse to join our Diabetes and Endocrinology team, supporting high‑quality diabetes care for inpatients across the Trust.
Responsibilities
* Deliver specialist input for patients with complex diabetes needs.
* Support ward staff with timely advice, education and clinical guidance.
* Contribute to inpatient diabetes safety initiatives, audits and quality improvement.
* Act as a visible clinical leader and role model across the Trust.
* Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to optimise patient outcomes.
* Lead the development and delivery of expert education and training in diabetes for health professionals and stakeholders.
* Provide expert clinical support for adults with diabetes during their hospital stay, offering specialist assessment, advice and education to ensure safe, effective, person‑centred management.
Qualifications & Knowledge
* Registered General Nurse (RGN)
* Degree or Diploma in Diabetes Care
* Teaching qualification
* Evidence of further education and experience relevant to diabetes care
* Independent non‑medical prescriber
Experience
* Experience of Band 6 or equivalent in diabetes care
* Experience of developing and influencing clinical practice change
* Evidence of teaching and audit awareness
