The EVAWG Project Officer will play a key role in driving forward training initiatives aimed at eliminating violence against women and girls. The role involves developing and delivering impactful training programmes, raising awareness through innovative campaigns, and mobilising the community and voluntary sector to advocate for gender equality and safety. The successful candidate will manage relationships with key stakeholders, coordinate sector-wide activities, and contribute to government strategies to address this pressing issue.
Position Title: Project Officer (Part-Time)
Salary: £18,975 Gross Salary
Reports To: Catherine Cooke, Coordinator at Foyle Women’s Information Network
Hours: 25 hours per week, with occasional evening or weekend work as required
Location: Holywell Trust, 8-12 Bishops St, Derry, BT48 6PW
Key Responsibilities
1. Programme Delivery and Facilitation
o Adapt, deliver, and evaluate programmes to community groups, with a focus on Eliminating Violence Against Women and Girls (EVAWG).
o Develop tailored workshops, seminars, and training sessions to engage diverse audiences and empower communities.
2. Awareness Campaigns
o Assist with the creation and execution of impactful campaigns to raise awareness about issues affecting women and girls.
o Collaborate with communications teams to ensure campaigns are effective and widely disseminated.
3. Community Engagement
o Engage the community and voluntary sector to advocate on issues affecting women and girls.
o Build capacity within the sector to address these issues effectively.
4. Stakeholder Management
o Collaborate with partners and key stakeholders, including:
o PSNI (Police Service of Northern Ireland)
o Elected Representatives
o Derry City and Strabane District Council (DCSDC)
o Translink
o Regional and local women’s organisations / groups to ensure Women’s Sector Co-ordination
5. Government Strategy Input
o Contribute to the development and implementation of government strategies addressing violence against women and girls.
o Provide informed feedback and recommendations to influence policy and decision-making.
6. Funding Opportunities
o Stay informed on key funding opportunities and provide input on applications to secure resources for EVAWG initiatives.

6. Essential Experience and Knowledge
1. Experience in the Women’s Sector: Previous experience working in roles that address women’s issues, gender equality, or related fields.
2. Knowledge of Government Strategies: Familiarity with the Government’s Strategy for Eliminating Violence Against Women and Girls, including current policies and initiatives.
3. Programme Development: Experience in creating and delivering programmes with measurable impact.
4. Advocacy and Campaigns: A track record of developing successful awareness campaigns and advocacy initiatives.
