Senior Business Analyst - Future ERP (HR Technology)
Royal Mail is embarking on a once in a generation transformation of its enterprise systems - a multi year Future ERP programme that will modernise how our organisation operates at every level. Within HR, we are replacing fragmented, end of life platforms with a modern, integrated SuccessFactors landscape spanning Core HR, Payroll, Onboarding, Compensation & Variable Pay, and HR document management.
We're looking for a Senior Business Analyst who can operate at the heart of this transformation. You'll lead complex, cross functional analysis across HR and Payroll, shaping high quality requirements and ensuring they translate into effective, scalable ERP solutions. This is a role for someone who thrives on complexity, brings structure to ambiguity, and can bridge the worlds of business, technology, and delivery partners.
The Role
As a Senior Business Analyst, you will:
1. Lead End to End Business Analysis
* Drive analysis across large, cross functional SAP/ERP workstreams in HR and Payroll.
* Facilitate structured workshops, challenge assumptions, and bring clarity to complex problems.
* Produce high quality artefacts including process maps, data flows, functional and non functional requirements, and acceptance criteria.
* Maintain full traceability from requirements through design, build, test, cutover, and hypercare.
* Ensure solutions are secure, compliant, supportable, and aligned to target architecture and total cost of ownership.
2. Shape ERP Design & Integration
* Act as a key liaison between business teams, Solution Architects, functional consultants, and SI partners.
* Ensure designs follow best practice processes, shared data standards, and architectural principles.
* Surface integration impacts across HR, Payroll, Finance, Time, and Analytics.
* Define and document non functional requirements that are measurable and testable.
3. Drive Value, Benefits & Change Readiness
* Quantify benefits and support Business Case development.
* Assess change impacts across people, process, data, and systems.
* Provide inputs to business readiness, communications, and training.
* Define success measures and support benefits tracking.
4. Ensure Quality, Governance & Delivery Excellence
* Deliver documentation to agreed standards and timelines.
* Support test planning and execution, including scenario design and acceptance validation.
* Manage requirement changes, scope challenges, risks, and issues.
* Support cutover planning, go live readiness, and hypercare.
5. Lead and Influence Across Teams
* Coach and guide Business Analysts; champion consistent methods and standards.
* Build trusted relationships across business, technology, and supplier teams.
* Foster a collaborative, solution focused culture across mixed teams of SMEs, analysts, designers, and SI partners.
Role Context
* Operates within a multi year, multi workstream SAP/ERP transformation.
* Supports multiple interdependent projects simultaneously.
* Translates complex, cross domain requirements with significant process, data, and integration impacts.
* Works within a large, unionised, regulated environment where payroll accuracy is mission critical.
* Navigates hybrid delivery models (Waterfall with Agile practices) and multi supplier landscapes.
What You'll Bring
* Experience delivering business analysis on complex technology programmes, ideally with end to end ERP exposure (SAP preferred).
* Strong HR and/or Payroll domain experience in large, complex organisations (e.g., UK payroll, unionised environments).
* Mastery of BA disciplines: process modelling, requirements engineering, data analysis, benefits mapping, root cause analysis, acceptance criteria, and test assurance.
* Excellent facilitation and documentation skills; able to influence senior stakeholders and drive clarity in ambiguous contexts.
* Experience working in Waterfall and hybrid delivery models; able to produce user stories, use cases, process models, and RTMs.
* Strong collaboration skills across business, technical teams, and SI partners.
* Data and integration literacy across HR/Payroll/Finance domains.
* Desirable: deep Payroll or People Master Data expertise; hands on SuccessFactors EC/ECP experience; knowledge of Onboarding, Compensation & Variable Pay, HR Document Management; understanding of GDPR and HR compliance.
