* Support the delivery of person‑centred care under the supervision of registered and non‑registered nursing staff.
* Assist patients with personal care (bathing, dressing, toileting, meals).
* Help with non‑clinical duties in a ward or department.
* Ensure patient safety, dignity, and wellbeing at all times.

Some of the core tasks required for the role include:
* Provide excellent customer care skills to ensure patients come first.
* Act as an advocate for patients within the department/ward/unit.
* Follow FHFT guidelines, policies and procedures in maintaining safe working practices for patients and colleagues.
* Ensure that patients receive high quality communication and a good experience, having regard for their customs, religious beliefs or principles.
Qualifications
* Evidence of general education, eg GCSE's or equivalent functional skills Level 2 Numeracy and Literacy
* Willingness to work toward and complete the Healthcare Support Worker level 2 apprenticeship
* Knowledge of personal care and related procedures
* Vocational qualification at level 2 or equivalent relevant experience
Experience
* Previous experience which includes team working, communicating with staff and colleagues, and understanding of work practices
* Experience of working in a health care environment
* Experience of dealing with the public
Skills and Knowledge
* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
* Basic numeracy and literacy
* Ability to follow clear instructions and feedback from staff
* Ability to work within a team
* Ability to learn new skills
* Knowledge of how to respect individuality and diversity of patients, their carers, and your colleagues
* Good customer care skills
* Ability for caring for people with compassion.
* Clear and accurate written/verbal English
* Good basic hygiene skills (e.g., food handling, hand washing etc.)
* Able to listen effectively and demonstrate an empathetic/sensitive approach and be able to communicate effectively and compassionately to colleagues, staff, and patients and their family/carers/visitors.
* Understanding of the requirements of patient confidentiality
* Punctual and reliable
