An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a well-established specialist primary school in the Winchester area. This full-time, term-time position offers the chance to work in a nurturing and structured environment, supporting pupils aged 4–11 who have moderate learning difficulties and a range of associated needs.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day learning and development of pupils. Working closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff, you will help create an inclusive and engaging learning environment where every child feels supported, valued, and able to thrive. Your contribution will be key in enabling pupils to access the curriculum, develop essential life skills, and build confidence in their abilities.

Your responsibilities will include providing tailored support to pupils both within the classroom and in small group or one-to-one settings. You will assist with the delivery of differentiated learning activities, adapting tasks to meet individual needs and learning styles. Throughout the school day, you will help pupils with their communication skills, social interaction, emotional regulation, and independence, encouraging positive behaviour and supporting them in managing challenges.

The role also involves supporting pupils during less structured parts of the day, such as break times, transitions between activities, and off-site learning where applicable. You will work collaboratively with the wider school team to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies, ensuring consistency and continuity of care.

We welcome applications from individuals with a variety of professional backgrounds, including education, care, youth work, or those with transferable skills and a genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs. The ideal candidate will demonstrate patience, resilience, empathy, and a proactive approach, along with a strong commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of young learners.
