LOCUM APPOINTMENT FOR SERVICE IN PALLIATIVE CARE


MARIE CURIE EDINBURGH HOSPICE

Applications are welcome for the above fixed term, part time (32 hours per week) post based in the Marie Curie Edinburgh Hospice.

We are delighted to be able to offer two 0.8 WTE Clinical Fellow posts, starting in August. These posts offer a wide range of experience in palliative medicine to the successful applicants. In collaboration with medical colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team, the postholder(s) will play an important role in delivering medical care to inpatients on both our specialist and intermediate care wards.

Job Title: Clinical Fellow in Palliative Medicine

Location: Marie Curie Hospice, Edinburgh

Salary: NHS Specialty Registrar (StR) Pay scale: £47,438 to £62,758 per annum (dependent on experience)

Working Hours: 32 hours per week

Contract: Fixed term – 6 months

Start Date: August 2026

Depending on experience, the postholders will also have opportunities to contribute to the delivery of community services (including virtual beds) and to gain experience in the duty doctor role. In addition to clinical care, dedicated Supporting Professional Activities (SPA) time will be provided to enable the postholders to participate in training and education, maintain clinical excellence within the service, and pursue ongoing professional development. This role will particularly appeal to junior doctors who are keen to build a career in this field.

What we are looking for:

* Full GMC registration, a licence to practice and at least 2 years of full-time postgraduate training, preferably within the NHS
* Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Communication skills that are sensitive to patients and carers.
* A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are desirable.
