What You’ll Be Doing
As Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for the overall operation of the Maintenance Department, ensuring the hotel is maintained to the highest possible standards while supporting a safe, efficient, and well‑presented environment for guests and staff.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Managing the day‑to‑day operation of the Maintenance Department, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness
* Maintaining the hotel building, plant, and equipment to the highest standards
* Preparing and implementing preventative maintenance schedules
* Responding to maintenance requests promptly and managing planned works
* Ensuring all plant, boiler, heating, air conditioning, and electrical systems operate efficiently
* Liaising with external contractors, service engineers, and subcontractors where required
* Managing departmental budgets, forecasts, and cost control, including stock and expenditure
* Supporting payroll control through effective rota planning aligned with business levels
* Driving environmentally efficient practices and identifying cost‑saving opportunities
* Leading, motivating, and developing the maintenance team to deliver high performance
* Recruiting, training, and supporting team members in line with company policies
* Ensuring compliance with all health & safety, fire safety, and statutory regulations
* Conducting risk assessments and maintaining accurate records and documentation
* Carrying out regular checks including fire alarm testing and safety procedures
* Maintaining maintenance stock levels and ensuring correct purchasing procedures are followed
* Working closely with all departments, including housekeeping and food & beverage, to ensure smooth operations
* Responding quickly and effectively to emergency call‑outs
What We’re Looking For
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
* Proven experience in a Maintenance Manager or senior maintenance role, ideally within a hotel or similar environment
* Strong technical knowledge with a specific trade; electrical, plumbing, joinery, etc.
* Excellent leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team
* Strong organisational and problem‑solving abilities
* Good financial awareness, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
* A thorough understanding of health & safety and compliance regulations
* A proactive, hands‑on approach with attention to detail
* Flexibility to respond to the demands of a busy hotel environment, including emergencies
* A commitment to maintaining high standards and delivering excellent guest experiences
