Assistant Scientific Officer in Pesticide Usage and Vector Surveillance
Location: Newforge
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
Pay Rate: £26,449
Key Responsibilities
1. Conduct structured telephone interviews with farmers to collect accurate pesticide usage data
2. Identify insect specimens in the lab using microscopes and established taxonomic keys
3. Perform fieldwork including deployment and retrieval of insect traps across designated locations
4. Drive to research sites for sample collection and study implementation
Requirements
5. Essential:4 GCSEs at Grade A-C / 9-4 or equivalentCompetence in Microsoft Excel and basic database systemsGood telephone communication skillsValid driving licence and willingness to travel for fieldwork
6. Desirable:Experience using microscopes for insect identificationGeneral laboratory experience
