Job Overview
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and driven Band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our Perinatal service across the South of Tyne part of the Service. You will have responsibility for the specialist assessment of patient care needs and the development and evaluation of programmes of care during pregnancy and the first year postnatal.
Key Responsibilities
* Carrying out all relevant forms of care in partnership with patients, carers and other professionals in line with agreed standards and clinical policies.
* Managing a variety of complex and challenging conditions as an independent expert practitioner, providing specialist assessment, treatment and evaluation of service user care both individually and in groups.
* Utilising standardised clinical tools where appropriate, employing the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) as the model of practice.
* Providing specialist professional advice to other disciplines, carers and agencies.
* Engaging with the wider multidisciplinary team and working across agencies to deliver packages of care in the role of occupational therapist, keyworker and/or care manager, including mental health assessments.

* Confidence and comfort working autonomously without direct supervision.
* Strong leadership skills to guide and support other team members.
* Ability to motivate self and others, enthusiasm, passion and creativity.

Service Information
The Perinatal CMHT is a specialist community service covering Northumberland, North Tyneside, South Tyneside, Newcastle / Gateshead and Sunderland, providing comprehensive assessment and treatment for women experiencing a range of complex and enduring mental health problems within the perinatal period. Women accessing the service experience a full range of mental health difficulties including anxiety, bipolar, complex‑PTSD, depression, eating disorder, factitious disorder, grief, OCD, personality disorder, schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders.
