An established, therapeutic children’s residential provider is seeking compassionate and resilient Therapeutic Child Care Workers to join their dedicated team.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people who have experienced trauma and instability, helping them rebuild trust, develop life skills, and achieve positive outcomes.
About the Role
You will contribute to all aspects of the children’s physical, emotional and social care within a structured therapeutic environment.
Responsibilities include:
* Providing safe, nurturing and consistent care
* Supporting education, appointments and recreational activities
* Implementing care plans and behaviour support strategies
* Safeguarding and risk assessment
* Maintaining accurate records and reports
* Working in partnership with families and external professionals
* Contributing to a positive and structured home environment
The role operates on a rota basis including:
* Early and late shifts
* Weekends
* Sleep-ins
The Homes
The organisation operates two homes:
* A busier home supporting younger children in a lively, active setting
* A smaller, calmer home supporting older children preparing for independence or foster care
Staff are matched carefully to the most suitable environment.
Essential Requirements
* Full UK driving licence (business insurance required)
* Willingness to undertake sleep-in duties
* Flexibility to work shifts and weekends
* Emotional resilience and strong self-regulation
* Ability to work both independently and within a team
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Commitment to safeguarding and child-centred practice
* Physically able to meet the demands of the role
Desirable
* Experience working with children or young people
* Understanding of residential childcare
* Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
Important Information
Children may present with challenging behaviours due to previous trauma. Full training in approved physical intervention techniques is provided, alongside clear risk management plans and team support. Staff are never expected to manage high-risk situations alone.
Salary & Benefits
Unqualified Grade:
* £ hours equivalent)

Qualified Grade (Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare):
* £ hours equivalent)
* £ hours equivalent)
Additional Pay:
* £40 per sleep-in (plus additional payment if woken)
* Time and a half for hours worked over contracted hours
