Keep The UK’s Energy Secure by Building, Testing and Maintaining Safety‑Critical Systems.

At Cavendish Nuclear we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as an Electrical, Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) Technician.

The role

As an EC&I Technician, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll play a vital role in keeping nuclear power stations safe, available and compliant. You work with specialised equipment and safety systems, apply rigorous test standards, and help ensure reliable low‑carbon energy for millions of homes, all while building your expertise in one of the UK’s most regulated and meaningful engineering environments.

Day‑to‑day you’ll be required to:

* Build and wire small electronic modules, boxes, units, and control/indication panels and cubicles.
* Assemble and hand‑solder through‑hole printed circuit boards (PCBs) and carry out functional testing to approved documentation.
* Test, verify and peer‑check results for analogue PCBs and electrical equipment; collate and record test evidence accurately.
* Follow and sign off production plans within an ISO 9001 quality system, flag variances and seek approval for corrective action.
* Travel and work on site at multiple UK power stations, collaborating with experienced teams in highly regulated environments.

Set working times are 37 hours per week: Monday to Wednesday 07:30–18:00, Thursday 07:30–15:00. During outages, you work 12‑hour shifts with paid overtime (time‑and‑a‑half) and a premium (time‑and‑a‑third) for night hours. This is a roving role, supporting EDF sites at Heysham, Hartlepool and Torness, along with the Whetstone Manufacturing site. Regular UK travel with overnight stays is required; all travel and accommodation expenses will be covered.

Essential experience of the EC&I Technician:

* Proven experience in an EC&I technician role within a regulated environment.
* Hands‑on PCB assembly, wiring and panel‑build experience, including test and verification.
* Working knowledge of ISO 9001 processes and documentation.
* Ability to travel frequently, including overnight stays, to UK power station sites.
* Strong attention to detail, safety focus and accurate record‑keeping.

Qualifications for the EC&I Technician:

* Apprenticeship or equivalent vocational training in a relevant discipline — preferred.
* Matched contribution pension scheme, with life assurance
* Access to a Digital GP, annual health check, and nutritional consultations through Aviva DigiCare+
* Employee share scheme
* Employee shopping savings portal
* Payment of Professional Fees
* Reservists in the armed forces receive 10‑days special paid leave
* Holiday Trading is a benefit that allows UK Cavendish employees to buy additional leave or to sell up to one working week of annual leave from their annual entitlement. This Window opens February through to March annually.
* ‘Be Kind Day’ enables employees to take one working day's paid leave a year (or equivalent hours) to undertake volunteering work with their chosen organisation or registered charity.
* Excellent development opportunities and benefits package including an employee assistance programme supporting physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
