Background
Our client is a mid-tier, dynamic fast growing A rated reinsurance organisation trusted by almost 2000 clients operating across over 100 countries. They cover Natural Disaster, Life & Health, Property, Financial and compliance as well as industry specific lines of business. The business is currently going through a period of high growth, demand, and investment and as a result is now looking to hire a Head of Capital Exposure Management for their London office. This is a newly created position within the business.
The Role
The Head of Capital will be a critical leader within the Group Finance & Risk ecosystem, responsible for designing, managing, and optimising the Group’s capital framework across all jurisdictions. The position reports to the Chief Actuary and will work closely with the Group CFO, Chief Risk Officer and Chief Operating Officer ensuring that the Group maintains a resilient, efficient, and scalable capital structure aligned with its international growth ambitions. The role balances deep quantitative expertise with strategic influence, supporting the organisations ongoing modernisation and regulatory strengthening programs. This role provides the technical authority for capital modelling, Solvency II / ICS compliance, capital efficiency strategy, and forward-looking capital planning for portfolio optimisation and new deals validation. Key Responsibilities include Capital Strategy & Optimisation (Drive capital allocation frameworks, ensuring disciplined deployment), Regulatory Capital, Solvency & Governance (ownership of the Group’s Solvency II capital framework), Capital Modelling & Technical Methodologies (Oversee the development, validation, and governance of all capital modelling), Financial & Performance Integration (Contribute to Group reporting and investor/regulator communications on capital), Leadership & Team Development (Build and lead a high-performing capital team with strong modelling, regulatory, and analytical capabilities)
The Candidate
We are looking for a proven Head of Capital Exposure Management with experience gained ideally from within a top tier reinsurance organisation or possibly an international insurance group. The ideal candidate for this role will be a Qualified actuary (FIA/FCAS/FSA or equivalent) or highly quantitative professional with advanced capital modelling expertise and extensive experience of actuarial, risk, or capital modelling experience. You will need strong technical experience in: Solvency II (all pillars), ICS comparability, and group supervision structures, internal model development, validation, regulatory engagement as well as capital optimisation, ORSA, and ICAAP frameworks. A demonstrated ability to operate across multi-jurisdictional environments and experience supporting senior leaders / Boards with capital insights and recommendations are all essential for success in role.
