Locum Consultant in Radiology

The post supports the general workload in the department, including plain film reporting, cross‑sectional imaging, and ultrasound. Sub‑specialty interests in ENT, MSK, Breast, and Gynae are desirable. The weekly timetable is variable and may change based on service needs and workload planning meetings. All consultant medical staff provide seven‑day working, including weekend and bank holiday sessions. In‑patient and ambulatory care imaging is delivered on site, and the overnight on‑call service (9 pm–7 am) has been outsourced. The working day runs from 8 am to 7 pm.
Main duties
* On‑call cover shared with colleagues, currently a 1 in 14 rota; home workstations available for remote CT image viewing.
* Cross‑site work at Stratford Hospital and other locations as required.
* Participation in regular reporting discrepancy meetings (RCR guidelines) and SPA activity.
* Attendance at monthly Radiology Management meetings.
* Teaching support for three radiology trainees, including use of teaching rooms with access to the PACS system.
* Possible involvement in teaching graduate entry medical students from the University of Warwick and the University of Buckingham.
Job responsibilities
* Provide expert clinical opinion on a range of emergency and elective problems across multiple specialties.
* Take full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients.
* Work across all modalities of cross‑sectional imaging.
* Demonstrate thorough and detailed knowledge of medical audit, medical education, and current clinical best practice.
* Lead, communicate, liaise, and negotiate with colleagues and other stakeholders.
Person Specification
* Full MBBS.
* Full GMC registration.
* Experience in cross‑sectional imaging across all modalities.
* Experience demonstrating clinical procedures/techniques to other healthcare professionals, including advanced practitioners.
* Competent in basic information technology.
