About Us
Fortitude School is a small, nurturing SEND Alternative Provision primary. We specialise in supporting children with autism, ADHD, global developmental delay, and SEMH needs. Alongside classroom learning, we provide outdoor learning and therapeutic experiences through our school farm.
Our ethos of courage, compassion, and empathy underpins everything we do, ensuring pupils develop not only academic skills but also resilience, confidence, and independence.
The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic Forest School/Farm Tutor to lead engaging outdoor learning sessions both on our school farm and within the school grounds.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Planning and delivering Forest School sessions tailored to EYFS/primary SEND pupils
* Leading farm-based learning activities (animal care, planting, harvesting, nature crafts)
* Embedding therapeutic, sensory, and social-emotional development opportunities
* Ensuring the highest standards of health & safety, risk assessment, and safeguarding in outdoor learning
* Working closely with teachers and support staff to link outdoor experiences with curriculum and EHCP outcomes
* Encouraging pupils to build confidence, teamwork, and respect for nature
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
Experienced in Forest School leadership and/or outdoor education (Forest School qualification desirable)
Confident working with animals, outdoor environments, and SEND pupils
Skilled in adapting activities to children with communication needs, sensory processing differences, and regulation needs
Passionate about outdoor learning, wellbeing, and experiential education
A strong communicator and team player
Experience of working with children with SEND is desirable, but training will be provided for the right candidate.
