A specialist provision in Gateshead is seeking an English and Literacy Support Assistant to support pupils aged 11–16 who require additional support with reading, writing and communication.
Many pupils have moderate learning difficulties, dyslexia or communication challenges, and benefit from extra support developing literacy skills.
Responsibilities
You will support pupils with:
* Reading comprehension
* Spelling and written communication
* Structured literacy interventions
* Building confidence when completing written work
Support may take place through small group sessions or classroom assistance.
Experience Requirements
Experience supporting literacy or education is helpful but not essential.
The school is open to candidates beginning on a trainee teaching assistant scale while gaining experience.
