Location: SiteBerrywood Hospital, Northampton, NN5 6UD, Northamptonshire
Contract: Permanent, Full-time (10 sessions/week)
Salary: £105,504 - £139,882 per annum

Role Summary
We are seeking a 10 PA Consultant or Specialty Doctor in Perinatal Psychiatry to join our award-winning Northamptonshire Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service. This new role is supported by increased funding aligned with the Long Term Plan for Perinatal Mental Health. The position can be based at Campbell House Northampton or other county venues, with options for hybrid working (video and face-to-face) and county-wide service delivery.
Main Responsibilities
* Provide medical leadership alongside existing Perinatal Psychiatrists
* Assess, diagnose, and treat women in the perinatal period (preconception to 2 years postpartum)
* Offer specialist advice on psychotropic medication use during pregnancy and breastfeeding
* Contribute to risk assessment, care planning, and crisis management
* Assess women with postpartum mental health issues, including psychosis
* Develop policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines
* Lead local health community initiatives, including training and up-to-date guidance dissemination
The role requires a commitment to clinical excellence, multidisciplinary teamwork, and the ability to travel across Trust locations.

Candidate Requirements
Applicants must have UK professional registration, be on the Specialist Register or eligible for CCT in General Adult Psychiatry, and have approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act. Desirable criteria include postgraduate qualifications, research publications, and management training.
