Overview

We are looking for graduates for our Intelligent Infrastructure team, who have a flexible approach and an appetite to learn in a leading Engineering and Professional Advisory services consultancy. WSP is an international leader in intelligent transport systems (ITS). As the urban population expands, developments in technology present opportunities for transformation, which is where our Intelligent Infrastructure team comes in.


What we are recruiting for

* Operations and Safety - Policy Monitoring & Evaluation: London, Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, Guildford
* Operations and Safety - Tunnel Systems & Operations: Guildford, Bristol or London
* Operations and Safety - Human Centered Design: Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham
* Systems & Infrastructure: London, Manchester, Bristol
* Lighting & Energy Solutions: Glasgow, Edinburgh, Manchester, London or Southampton


Role focus and projects

Our Intelligent Infrastructure team improves the operational and safety performance of transportation networks, including human-centered design, connectivity, cyber security, and zero emission vehicles (ZEVs). Projects include delivering major schemes and supporting public sector clients with digital projects, infrastructure design standards, and research to inform public strategy and policy at local and national levels.


Day-to-day activities could include

* Applying principles of human factors, ergonomics and behaviour change to transportation or infrastructure projects and policies.
* Undertaking research design, execution and reporting (quantitative and qualitative).
* Undertaking user identification and profiling including behavioural insights.
* Undertaking Human Factors assessments such as task analysis and risk analysis to inform infrastructure schemes and designs.
* Supporting the Capability Lead with client proposals.


What you will work on by team

* Human Centered Design: Prioritising user safety and efficiency, supporting research and analysis to shape robust systems in highways and beyond. Activities include safety and cyber security, operations, and transport research (surveys, focus groups, workshops, etc.).
* Policy Monitoring & Evaluation: Support monitoring and evaluation of transport policies and initiatives, including data analysis, stakeholder interviews, and collaboration with internal teams to deliver client objectives.
* Tunnel Systems & Operations: Deliver end-to-end tunnel asset capability; support design and delivery of tunnel systems across road, rail and utilities sectors.
* Systems & Infrastructure: Technology and infrastructure solutions to manage road networks; testing and implementing traffic-control technologies.
* Lighting & Energy Solutions: Design and consultancy across lighting, electrical and energy projects; professional development opportunities including external diplomas.


Graduate Development Programme

Our two-year Graduate Development programme supports personal and professional growth through blended learning, coaching, mentoring for professional registration, and on-the-job experience. Career development pathways can include routes to Chartership and progression to more senior roles.


What we will look for

* You will have graduated with at least a 2:2 in a relevant subject for the role.
* Ready to start in April or September 2026.
* A passion for engineering and consulting, and an interest in the built environment, infrastructure, places and the economy.
* Creativity, problem-solving, and the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in dynamic project environments.
