Band 5 Production Checking Officer

Pharmacy Production – Queen’s Hospital. This Band 5 role involves 22.5 hours per week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday rota). The position requires an experienced member of Pharmacy Production staff to work in our licensed commercial aseptics unit at Queen’s Hospital.
You will be responsible for final checking of Parenteral Nutrition and other injectable products including antibiotics, patient‑controlled analgesia, and cytotoxics; preparation of batch documentation; customer liaison; supervision of setting up and disinfection area on rotation. You must be methodical, accurate, and able to work within a team.
Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy, SMT level 3 apprenticeship, or a science degree/equivalent experience in aseptic preparation and in‑process checking.
Main Duties
The post holder will carry out specialist aseptic dispensing and final checking in a professional manner, helping provide a high‑quality, customer‑orientated service to the required standards.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
* Final checking of aseptic products, including parenteral nutrition, antibiotics, patient‑controlled analgesia, and cytotoxics.
* Preparation of batch documentation and maintaining accurate records.
* Customer liaison with suppliers and internal teams.
* Supervision of setting up and disinfection areas on rotation.
* Ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.
Person Specification
Education / Qualification
* NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy, SMT apprenticeship in aseptics, undergraduate degree or Aseptic Processing Course and experience of aseptic preparation and in‑process checking.
Skills / Abilities
* Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy.
Knowledge / Experience
* Experience of hospital pharmacy production including aseptic dispensing.
* Experience in final checking of aseptic products.
