Job Overview
WSP’s Land team is seeking talented Land professionals to join our largest and most successful team in the industry. The role focuses on land referencing, landowner and stakeholder engagement, consultation management, land access, formal consents, statutory orders, compensation agreements and land acquisition for major infrastructure projects across the UK and Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
* Support land referencing, land access, stakeholder engagement, optioneering and statutory processes.
* Identify landowners, occupants and other parties that hold an interest in land through research and interpretation of land registry information.
* Facilitate liaison with landowners, land agents, legal representatives, planning authorities, stakeholders, contractors and clients.
* Work with multidisciplinary teams to secure access for surveys, by agreement or statutory mechanisms.
* Contribute to the delivery and success of high‑profile infrastructure projects across the UK and Ireland.
* Provide training and mentoring to junior colleagues and undertake technical assurance of other colleagues’ work as part of the CPD‑accredited Land Academy.
* Demonstrate commercial awareness, understanding of budget, scope, change control and project management activities, including identification of project and data security risks.
* Represent the business at the Land Consultant level for client-facing activities.
* Travel within the UK and Ireland, and potentially to WSP’s Global Capability Centre in India.
Qualifications & Skills
* Strong interest in delivering land services, including land referencing, survey access, stakeholder and landowner engagement or statutory processes.
* Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality outputs for clients.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to liaise at all levels with internal and external stakeholders.
* Ability to delegate and undertake technical assurance of other colleagues’ work.
* Drive and enthusiasm to produce strong technical results.
* Ability to travel to various sites and locations is a necessary function of this role.
* General IT proficiency, Microsoft Office suite (including Teams) and basic GIS/mapping tools.
* Desirable: background in land ownership and land management practices, project management in infrastructure projects, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge of UK statutory consents (e.g., hybrid Bills, TWAs, DCOs, CPOs, Vesting Orders).
* Experience with wayleave agreements is beneficial.
