The Growth Company’s (GC) Employment team is recruiting an IAG Advisor – in Custody to provide high‑quality, labour market‑informed careers advice and support.
We help make a lasting difference to people throughout the North of England and beyond, supporting individuals from recently out of work to those facing complex barriers such as physical disabilities, mental ill‑health and debt. This role will be based in HMP Stafford.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure customers receive tailored IAG advice that meets their individual needs, fostering career management skills, independence, and sustained learning and job outcomes.
* Manage a diverse caseload to achieve targets, focusing on sustained employment or learning.
* Leverage labour market information and employer connections to support customers in achieving sustained employment outcomes.
* Build and maintain effective relationships with key partners, including prison managers/govnors, uniformed officers, and agencies, to generate a steady flow of eligible and appropriate new customers.
* Provide personalised support through various channels, including the Virtual Campus, group workshops, and face‑to‑face sessions.
* Develop high‑quality action plans for each customer, ensuring initial interactions meet customer satisfaction standards.
* Collaborate proactively with colleagues delivering other mainstream services (e.g., National Careers Service) to maximise customer outcome tracking and streamline evidence generation.
* Ensure compliance with Prison Service DPS contract requirements and exceed minimum standards set by the Skills Funding Agency, Ofsted, and Matrix.
About You
* Capable of thriving in a target‑driven environment, focusing on achieving successful outcomes for Prison Service customers.
* Possess high‑level guidance skills, able to deliver one‑to‑one and group sessions to at least a Grade 2 standard.
* Proficient in using digital channels and platforms for delivering information, advice, and guidance, including specific online tools and websites within the Virtual Campus.
Skills Required
* Hold an NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Advice & Guidance, DipCG, or an equivalent qualification, with a willingness to work towards meeting CDI License to Practice requirements.
* Preferably have recent experience in delivering job or learning outcomes within a custodial setting, especially in a target‑driven environment.
* Experience working with current or ex‑offenders.
* High‑level guidance skills, capable of delivering one‑to‑one and group sessions to at least a Grade 2 standard.
