About the Role
A Healthcare Support Worker / Care Assistant in Wales, UK provides compassionate, person-centred care to individuals in nursing home and residential settings, supporting both daily living needs and basic clinical care under the guidance of registered professionals in line with standards such as those of NHS Wales. The role includes assisting with personal care tasks such as washing, dressing, toileting, feeding and mobility, while promoting dignity, independence and safeguarding at all times. Responsibilities also involve monitoring and recording vital signs, observing and reporting changes in condition, supporting care plans, maintaining accurate documentation, adhering to infection prevention and health and safety procedures, and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, families and carers to ensure safe, effective and high-quality care delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with personal care, including washing, dressing, toileting, continence management, feeding and mobility.
* Support individuals with social activities, emotional wellbeing and promotion of independence.
* Monitor, record and report vital signs and any changes in condition.
* Assist with medication administration where trained and authorised.
* Contribute to care planning, risk assessments and implementation of care plans.
* Accurately document observations, updates and progress.
* Ensure infection prevention and control procedures are followed.
* Use manual handling equipment safely and assist with safe transfers.
* Safeguard vulnerable adults and maintain confidentiality at all times.
* Work collaboratively with nurses, senior carers, multidisciplinary teams, families and external professionals to deliver safe, effective and high-quality care.
* Obtain consent and practice safe standards of care at all times.
* Review and contribute to individual care plans.
* Keep up to date with all relevant healthcare training.
What We're Looking For
* Minimum of an NVQ Level 2 or working towards Level 3 or any relevant qualification to the role.
* Minimum of 6 months UK-based care assistant experience within the last 3 years.
* Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship provided).
* Willingness to undergo thorough DBS and reference checks.
* Ability to follow clear instructions, policies and procedures of each home.
* Strong communication, organisational and team skills.
* Compassion, commitment, patience and a practical mindset.
