Job Description:
Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh
This post is fixed term for 9 months.
NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
We support disabled candidates, and candidates with long-term conditions or neurodivergence by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policies and practices.
This position requires PVG Scheme membership/record. If not currently a PVG member for the relevant group (child and/or adult), an application must be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before employment begins.
Note: We anticipate high interest and may close the vacancy early once sufficient applications are received. Please submit your application early.
We seek a motivated and enthusiastic Physiotherapist to join our Critical Care Recovery (CCR) Service. The team provides therapy assessment and rehabilitation to ICU survivors at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, aiming to restore independent physical function after prolonged ICU stays.
You will deliver rehabilitation to patients in ICU, HDU, and step-down wards, and participate in the CCR outpatient clinic.
You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, dieticians, mental health team members, CCR nurses, and ICU consultants. Flexibility and communication are essential.
Applicants must demonstrate excellent clinical reasoning in critical care and ward settings, with experience in rehabilitation and critical care preferred. Experience in service development and supporting quality improvement projects is also desirable.
This role offers extensive experience as a clinical band 7 physiotherapist. As the sole physiotherapist in the team, autonomous practice and advanced reasoning are crucial.
We support staff development through appraisal, supervision, and CPD opportunities.
Weekend working on the Major Trauma Rehabilitation rota and overnight respiratory on-call duties are required.
Applications for full and part-time work are welcome.
