Offer description

The Greater Cambridge Shared Planning Service is seeking two Chairs and one Vice-Chair for its Design Review Panel.

The panel reviews schemes for Cambridge City Council and South Cambridgeshire District Council as well as occasional request to review schemes made by adjacent local planning authorities.

This is an opportunity to lead an established panel of cross disciplinary experts that supports GCSP’s commitment to high-quality design, adding value to the planning process, managing change positively and helping create a lasting legacy. You will play a key role in an area of significant growth, ensuring that Greater Cambridge which includes Cambridge and the surrounding villages enhances its distinctive identity as a world class place for people to visit, live, work and study in.

The Greater Cambridge Design Review Panel was established in 2022 and is made up of 40 to 50 members, 2 Chairs and 1 Vice Chairs, with a balance of skills to address the themes of Community, Character, Connectivity and Climate of the Cambridgeshire Quality Charter for Growth. We are seeking applications from professionals, recognised in their field of expertise who are able to steer, direct and advice the panel’s view on a range of issues in architecture, urban design, conservation, sustainability, transport, planning and landscape in a coherent, consistent and focussed manner. They should have extensive experience of championing and influencing high quality design and sustainable place outcomes.
