Data & AI Ethics Technical Lead

As a Data & AI Ethics Technical Lead, you will enhance Kainos’ technical capabilities to mitigate AI risks.
Key responsibilities include:
* Learning and building demos around responsible AI techniques such as post‑hoc explainability, bias mitigation, privacy‑enhancing technologies and guardrails for large language models.
* Providing data & AI trust and assurance subject‑matter expertise on customer projects, sharing best practices and influencing the ethical dimensions of data and AI solutions.
* Exploring new responsible AI techniques, sharing learnings with the wider practice, and engaging in industry engagements, pre‑sales and marketing support.
* Collaborating with the Responsible AI team, Data Scientists and Data Engineers to evolve our approach.
Minimum (essential) requirements:
* A minimum 2.1 degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Statistics or a similar highly quantitative field.
* Foundational knowledge of responsible AI in a data & AI context, including fairness definitions, bias concepts and library/tools awareness.
* Demonstrable experience with dataset feature selection, data management and visualization, AI/ML, pre‑training techniques, explainable models, post‑hoc techniques and AI testing/validation.
* Proven ability to solve complex problems, learn new concepts, think critically and incorporate new perspectives.
* Collaborative mindset and demonstrable experience contributing positively to team ethos.
Desirable:
* Advanced degree in a highly quantitative field.
* Experience with ML fairness approaches/toolkits, risk‑based ethics and responsible AI frameworks, or developing responsible AI policy.
* Experience designing and running tests for algorithmic bias, disparate impact and performance using fairness metrics and mitigation techniques.
* Experience creating model guardrails and ethical constraints, and implementing policy‑based guardrails for AI systems.
* Experience creating citations and references for RAG systems, cards, data sheets and decision logs.
* Knowledge of responsible AI practices, trends and principles in trust, assurance and ethics.
* Experience creating accelerators, frameworks, decision trees or other tools to scale AI adoption.
* Experience contributing to proposals, bids or sales activities shaping offerings and developing opportunities.
