Due to an expansion in services, Cellular Pathology is looking for an additional Specialist Biomedical Scientist / Team Lead to join the team.
As a large teaching hospital and secondary and tertiary referral centre we provide histopathology to a wide range of specialist services. The vacancy is in our main laboratory at the John Radcliffe Hospital.
We are part of the South Pathology Partnership operating a digital service with our partnership labs, are implementing a regional laboratory computer system and will be validating automated microtomy within the next couple of months.
Applicants wishing to join our team must be HCPC registered and hold the IBMS Specialist Diploma in Cellular Pathology.
Main duties of the job
Your role will require you to
1. Team lead in a section of histology
2. Rotate between all section in the specialty following departmental procedures
3. Perform specialist histological techniques
4. Quality control work leaving the laboratory
5. Assist in training of staff
6. Deputise for the senior biomedical scientist / section head
7. Be involved in staff recruitment and appraisal.
8. Assist with audit, and procedural change in line with the departmental quality management system.
