Job description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan and deliver differentiated teaching sessions (1:1 and small groups) that meet the diverse needs of learners with ALN.
2. Contribute to the creation, monitoring, and review of IEPs/EHCP targets in collaboration with the SENCo/ALNCo.
3. Implement strategies and interventions for a range of ALN including ASD, ADHD, SpLD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, and other specific learning barriers.
4. Support academic, emotional, and social development through positive and nurturing approaches.
5. Use assessment data effectively to track student progress, adjust planning, and provide feedback to learners, parents/carers, and staff.
6. Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure consistent support and communication.
7. Promote inclusion and independence in all aspects of learning.
8. Contribute to the development of inclusive teaching practices and training for other staff as needed.
9. Maintain accurate records of sessions, progress, incidents, and communication using the provision’s systems.
Person Specification:
Essential:
10. Relevant teaching qualification or Level 5+ in a related field (, education, SEN, support work).
11. Proven experience of working with learners with ALN in an educational or care setting.
12. Strong understanding of ALN categories and the relevant support strategies/interventions.
13. Experience in delivering differentiated instruction tailored to learners’ individual needs.
14. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
15. Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
16. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
