Position Summary
You will provide process engineering expertise to support safe, compliant and efficient manufacturing and delivery of capital projects at the GSK Montrose site in the United Kingdom. You will work closely with operations, other engineers, automation, quality and EHS teams to solve technical issues, deliver projects and improve processes. We value practical problem solvers who communicate clearly, collaborate across teams and enjoy hands-on work in both office and plant environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Investigate and resolve technical issues on plant for daily manufacturing, working with operations and cross-functional teams to deliver timely solutions.
* Contribute various work on site capital projects. Provide input at the design stage; contribute to safety reviews (e.g. HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, HAC); work on detailed design including equipment specification, HAZOP action closure, software early specification, through to commissioning of new plant and processes.
* Improve process plant software by identifying changes or providing software for new plant: preparing detailed design specifications and offline & online testing.
* Collaborate with other disciplines (mechanical, electrical and instrument technicians, automation engineers, operations, plant engineers, EHS, quality, other process engineers) to investigate and resolve any issues and communicate with operations.
* Ensure good practice and compliance with legislation, which includes reporting and investigation of safety issues.
* Drive process improvement initiatives and input into planned changes.
Work arrangement
This is an on-site role at Montrose.
Basic Qualifications
* BEng or MEng in chemical or process engineering.
* Enthusiastic to work in an on-plant environment.
* Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact with and influence individuals at all levels in the business: from shop floor to senior leaders.
* Self-starter, able to be accountable for project / commissioning delivery and working independently on agreed priorities.
* Knowledge of process safety principles and participation in safety studies (for example HAZOP).
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with process control systems and plant software (for example DeltaV or similar).
* Prior experience in pharmaceutical, food or chemical manufacturing with awareness of Good Manufacturing Practice.
* Experience in process support, commissioning or project delivery in a plant setting.
* Chartered (CEng) chemical engineer or working towards.
