About This Role
Leonardo is seeking a Senior Bid Manager to join the Business Winning Team within the Integrated Sensing and Protection Line of Business.
Responsibilities
* Lead both competitive and non‑competitive bids to successful conclusion, managing tactical follow‑on business and multi‑million‑pound strategic initiatives.
* Work with Sales, Sector VPs, Integrated Capture Teams (ICTs), Integrated Project Teams (IPTs), Engineering and Capability Managers to define bid strategy and implement win themes.
* Coordinate bids across functional areas, ensuring targets are met and stakeholders are aligned.
* Guide the capture team through internal governance and approval gates, presenting winning information to ISP leadership.
* Plan and schedule bid activities including strategy, kick‑off, answer planning, WBS development, progress reviews, proposal collation and tender approvals.
* Lead bid teams in risk analysis, mitigation, and post‑contract award realization plans.
* Manage resource and budget requirements, forecast functional needs, and maintain approved bid budgets.
* Support negotiation, manage changes, and secure contract awards through effective bid submission quality control.
Skills & Qualifications
* Relevant degree or equivalent experience.
* APMP accreditation (desirable).
* Experience as bid manager for complex commercial proposals, ideally in defence (£5M‑£100M).
* Previous experience with the MoD bid process and procedures.
* Proven record of winning bids.
* Strong leadership, goal‑focused mindset, resilience, and confidence in presenting to senior management.
* Excellent written and oral communication, high numeracy, and analytical skills.
* Understanding of capture processes, bid planning tools (Black Hat, Red Team, Price to Win), and best‑practice bid practices.
* Bid writing experience is desirable.
* Financial and commercial awareness.
Security Clearance
