Senior Quantity Surveyor Main Contractor Office based in Stansted Projects across Essex and North London Salary up to £90,000 plus travel Hybrid working and work from home available We are representing a highly respected and steadily growing main contractor who is looking to strengthen their commercial team with the appointment of an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor. The role will be based out of their Stansted office, with flexibility to work from home as part of a hybrid working arrangement. Project portfolio The business delivers a wide range of commercial and public sector projects, including but not limited to: Bus garages and transport facilities Medical centres and healthcare buildings Schools and education facilities Large commercial storage developments, including Big Yellow Storage Office developments and refurbishments Retail and shopfitting projects Project values typically range from medium to large scale, and the company has a strong forward order book. The role As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will have full commercial responsibility for one or more projects, reporting into a Commercial Manager or Commercial Director. You will play a key role in supporting project teams, ensuring commercial performance is maintained and risks and opportunities are effectively managed. Key duties will include: Preparing cost plans and budgets Managing procurement and subcontractor packages Preparing and agreeing valuations and variations Commercial reporting and cost value reconciliation Managing change control and risk Supporting junior commercial staff where required Final accounts and project close out You will work closely with site teams, design teams and clients, contributing to a collaborative and solutions focused approach. About you To be considered for this role, you will need: A minimum of 10 years' experience working as a Quantity Surveyor for a main contractor Proven experience delivering commercial or public sector construction projects Strong commercial and contractual knowledge The ability to manage projects independently from start to finish Confident communication skills and a professional approach A team focused mindset, fitting well into a friendly and supportive environment Experience across multiple sectors such as healthcare, education, commercial or retail would be highly advantageous.
