The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation (YCF) is the home of community and recreational cricket, putting cricket at the heart of Yorkshire and inspiring people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to connect with the game. From the iconic Headingley Stadium to communities across Yorkshire, the YCF creates opportunities, experiences and a positive impact that supports participation, wellbeing and social connection.

As part of the Yorkshire Cricket network, the YCF delivers programmes, events and initiatives that bring people together, strengthen communities and support the development of clubs and leagues. Working in partnership with schools, clubs, local authorities, faith groups and other organisations, the YCF aims to grow participation, foster inclusive environments and ensure cricket is accessible, welcoming and sustainable across Yorkshire.

Reporting to the Development Manager for the Sheffield area, the ACE Development Officer will be responsible for sustaining and developing two community cricket hubs across Yorkshire, which operate all year round and offer participation and progression pathways for 8–14 year olds.

The ACE Development Officer will also oversee the development and ongoing progression of academy players aged 10–21, ensuring their continued engagement and performance within the programme.

This is a full‑time role, working an average of 35 hours a week, on a fixed‑term contract basis until 31st January 2027 (although that may be extended, subject to funding).


Responsibilities

* Develop a minimum of 2 sustainable and inclusive community‑led cricket Hub environments.
* Build grassroot cricket programmes that are accessible all year round, increasing participation levels within the black British communities.
* Develop talent pathways and talent ID for young people who may or may not be currently playing cricket and transition them into the appropriate playing environment.
* Develop the quality of coaches and volunteers from the community, as well as provide mentoring to support players, coaches and families.
* Provide opportunities for all players to access cricket at a club or community environment.
* Work with schools to introduce or increase the schools’ cricketing provision.
* Increase opportunities for communities/schools to compete in a range of formats.
* Maintain relevant office/electronic filing systems, including budget monitoring.
* Provide regular performance and impact reports, both internally and externally.
* Deliver ACE taster sessions in schools.
* Engage with ACE charity, Sheffield Caribbean Cricket Club, community stakeholders, community coaches and volunteers.


Qualifications and Experience

* Experience of developing, managing and delivering sports activities.
* Some flexibility around working hours, including evenings, and willingness to travel for work (with access to a vehicle).
* Knowledge of key cricketing national programmes Chance to Shine, Wicketz, All Stars and Dynamos Cricket national programmes.
* Experience in communicating with state primary and secondary schools.
* Experience of overseeing casual coaches.
* Be self‑motivated and able to motivate others.
* Ability to use a solution focused approach to problem solving.
* Experience in delivering safe, structured and enjoyable sports/cricket coaching in schools, clubs or local communities.
* Commit to a professional development programme in order to provide an appropriate service and support to all stakeholders.
* ECB UKCC Level 2 or equivalent cricket coaching qualification.
* Attendance on First Aid and Safeguarding & Protecting Children courses.
* Experience of undertaking risk assessments and facilitating focus groups.
* Understanding of Ethnic Minority communities & cultures, recreational cricket; a commitment to increase player retention and participation at all levels; proven managerial and administrative competencies; and excellent communication skills.
* Experience of managing budgets.
* Experience in using sport for development, both for individuals and the community.
* Experience of organising competitions and events.
* Understanding of the needs of target groups including women & girls, minority ethnic communities, disabled people and people from disadvantaged background and areas of deprivation.
* Experience of delivering development initiatives.
