We are looking for an experienced Technical Author who is passionate about their subject and dedicated to the quality of their work. Our new Technical Author will be comfortable on all aspects relating to technical communication, You'll be expected to be focused and able to deliver on your project commitments with minimum supervision. We see our role as technical communicators in creating professional technical documentation, eLearning content and other types of documentation as essential to supporting customers and for our sales teams in selling our products and services to new customers. You should have a similar belief in the importance of technical communication and be able to communicate this effectively to colleagues throughout the business. The role is London based, with a flexible working policy. Key responsibilities Take responsibility for your assigned projects- become a subject matter expert in your area, take responsibility for all documentation related to your projects, provide relevant training to other team members on your area. Contribute to general Technical Documentation team tasks - take part in team and one-to-one meetings, provide weekly status updates, pick up new tickets, and support general team tasks and maintenance of information on our documentation websites. Support team initiatives aimed to improve how we provide information to customers. Help to create content for our product training programme, which is currently being rolled out internally across the organisation. Based on your experience, provide meaningful input to the team around best practice on all aspects relating to technical communication. Mentoring and support for new team members, and other team members on request Engage with stakeholders across the business, contribute to team planning and process improvements. Help to collect and analyse customer feedback and take part in customer feedback sessions. Act as an ambassador for the value of good technical documentation and be prepared to provide awareness training to new joiners and other teams/departments to explain our technical documentation. Key Skills Experience as a technical communicator. Able to write clear and easy-to-read content and organise information in a logical manner that will make sense to end-users. Degree level educated - in a suitable or related field (e.g., Technical Communication, English Literature, Computer Science). Interest and commitment to your career as a technical communicator. This can best be demonstrated through affiliation with a society or organisation that supports technical communicators, such as the Institute of Scientific and Technical Communicators (ISTC), and/or through demonstration of Continual Professional Development (CPD). Advanced computer competency - working with common business tools such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Confluence, Jira, Word, Excel, Visio. Knowledge of producing online technical documentation (using tools such as Madcap Flare). Graphic design skills (to produce flowcharts, diagrams, product sheets and other types of interactive content) Knowledge of producing and delivering training content included eLearning. Knowledge working with documentation for developers. Experience using source and version control systems. Financial services and online payment experience a plus.
