What we need…
Due to continued investment in data and AI, we are looking to recruit a Junior to Mid‑level Data and AI Developer to join our growing AI development capability within the Solutions Team.
This role is ideal for an engineer with a strong foundation in software engineering and data, who is excited by applied AI and machine learning and wants to grow in a fast‑evolving technical area. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers to help transform high‑quality data into AI‑powered products, including conversational and agent‑based solutions, that deliver real business value.
As TerraQuest scales its AI capability, this role offers excellent opportunities for learning, progression, and exposure to modern AI, data, and cloud technologies.
What you will be doing…
* Working with structured and unstructured data to prepare, transform, and validate datasets for AI and machine learning solutions.
* Developing and maintaining software components, services, or functions using C#, Python, or similar languages to support AI‑powered features.
* Training, evaluating, and iterating on machine learning or AI models, applying appropriate techniques with guidance from senior engineers.
* Applying machine learning techniques and basic statistical analysis to help assess and improve AI model performance.
* Integrating AI models and services into applications or workflows, ensuring solutions are reliable, secure, and maintainable.
* Collaborating within agile delivery teams, contributing to user stories, technical tasks, and sprint ceremonies.
* Writing clean, testable, and well‑documented code, and participating in code reviews as part of a collaborative engineering culture.
* Gaining exposure to cloud‑based AI services, data platforms, and MLOps practices as solutions move from experimentation to production.
What we are looking for…
Essential knowledge and skills
* A strong foundation in software engineering, with experience using C#, Python, or similar languages.
* Understanding of data concepts, including data structures, data quality, and data transformation.
* Exposure to AI or machine learning concepts, such as model training, evaluation, or prompt‑based AI solutions.
* Foundational understanding of machine learning and basic statistical analysis, and how they are applied in real‑world systems.
* Familiarity with working in cloud environments (hands‑on experience is a plus, not a requirement).
* Understanding of testing principles and an interest in writing automated tests.
* Experience working in, or exposure to, agile software development teams.
* Strong problem‑solving skills, curiosity, and a willingness to learn in a rapidly evolving technical space.
Desirable knowledge and skills
* Experience with data engineering tools or pipelines, including data ingestion or transformation.
* Exposure to machine learning frameworks or libraries (e.g. scikit‑learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar).
* Familiarity with cloud‑hosted AI or data services.
* Aware of MLOps practices, such as model versioning, evaluation, monitoring, or deployment workflows.
* Experience applying statistical or machine learning techniques to real datasets.
* Experience working with APIs, microservices, or event‑driven architectures.
* Interest in responsible AI, data governance, and ethical use of AI technologies.
