Overview
Senior Social Care Assistant at Surrey: you will often be the first point of contact between the public and the service, gathering initial information and determining the need for further assessment while signposting people to other services. Your role will involve working in partnership with individuals, their carers, professional staff in other agencies, support brokers, and service providers to support vulnerable adults and their families, fostering independence, choice, and control.
Responsibilities

* Identify and arrange services that meet the needs of vulnerable adults and their families, fostering independence, choice and control.
* Work in partnership with individuals, carers, professional staff in other agencies, service providers and Support Brokers to support vulnerable adults and their families.
* Assess and manage risk associated with services, ensuring safeguarding of service users.
* Manage competing priorities and shifting demands in a dynamic environment.
* Travel across Surrey's urban and rural areas, requiring a valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Qualifications
* Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards individuals in need of social care assistance.
* Experience working with residents with a variety of physical and cognitive social care needs, including strength‑based assessments, home visits, and support plans.
* Working knowledge of Care Act legislation and its impact on service delivery.
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey information clearly, concisely and respectfully.
* Capacity to independently take initiative and adapt to shifting priorities.
* Valid UK driving licence with vehicle access.

Surrey County Council is undergoing Local Government Reorganisation, moving from a two‑tier system to two new unitary councils in April 2027. If you are employed by Surrey on 1 April 2027, your role will transfer with current terms and conditions to one of the new organisations, supporting local devolution and greater powers for our communities.

* Salary: £32,512 per annum (full‑time) or £16,776 per annum (part‑time). This equates to 36 hours per week or 18 hours per week respectively.
