Job Title: Senior Structural Design Engineer Location: Glasgow (with occasional travel to customer sites) Reports To: Design Manager Join a Leading Engineering Team Driving Innovation and Quality We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Structural Design Engineer to join our engineering team in Glasgow. This is an exciting opportunity for a structural engineering professional who is passionate about designing innovative products, solving technical challenges, and playing a critical role in developing industry-leading solutions. As a key member of our design function, you’ll work closely with cross-functional teams including production, sales, and site services, contributing to all stages of the product lifecycle, from concept and structural analysis through to validation, certification, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities: Produce innovative structural designs for new and modified products Conduct structural analysis, including finite element analysis (FEA) Validate designs through testing, field trials, and production evaluations Resolve engineering issues across product development and production Review and approve engineering documents and technical drawings Liaise with certifying authorities to secure product approvals Support and mentor less experienced engineers in the team Provide technical assistance to production, sales, and site services Ensure all work complies with relevant standards, regulations, and company procedures Key Requirements Education: Essential: Honours degree in Structural Engineering Preferred: Master’s degree in Structural Engineering Working towards or already chartered (MIStructE or equivalent) is desirable Experience: 5-6 years’ general engineering experience Minimum 2-3 years in structural analysis Experience in finite element analysis (minimum 6 months preferred) Familiarity with steel design and Eurocode materials Exposure to nonlinear analysis is desirable Technical Skills: Proficient in structural analysis and design software Preferred tools: AutoCAD Mechanical Desktop, Inventor, Robot, Nastran, MathCAD, Excel Strong computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel) Ability to read and interpret technical drawings Soft Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong planning, organisational, and decision-making abilities Innovative thinker with a customer-focused approach Able to mentor and support colleagues Comfortable working in a fast-paced, change-driven environment What We Offer Opportunity to work on challenging and varied engineering projects Supportive and collaborative team environment Commitment to professional development and ongoing training Competitive salary and benefits package About Us The company focus on engineering excellence, a customer-first mindset, and a culture of innovation.
