An exciting opportunity has arisen in the pain management team at York for a Band 6 clinical nurse secondment. The secondment will be fixed term for 6 months, with potential for this to be extended.
The post holder will manage a defined caseload of inpatients, providing specialist nursing care, advice, and support with pain. They will be responsible for assessing, planning, delivering, and evaluating care programmes, while maintaining high standards of practice. The role includes daily management of inpatient pain services, such as epidural and patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) pumps, delivering specialist rounds, and offering education to patients and healthcare professionals. A key responsibility will be ensuring the cost-effective use of resources, while supporting the ongoing development of specialist nursing within the service.

Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for the management of a defined caseload, and carries continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards of care.
The post holder will provide specialist nursing care and advice to a specific patient group, and will contribute to the development of the speciality service. The post holder will ensure cost effective use of resources.
The successful candidate must have 2 years’ experience in surgical, theatres or critical care nursing to apply.
