About The Role

UNLOCK YOUR BEST WORK LIFE. We have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker to join the team at HMP Garth, a high security Category B male prison located in Leyland. HMP Garth has capacity of around 800 and houses men serving long term and indeterminate sentences. Join the Recovery Team and empower those who wish to make changes in their behaviour to promote health and well-being through recovery from drugs and alcohol. This is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients, and delivering outstanding care.


Hours

This is a part time role, 30 hours per week. We can be flexible on the days worked, but they are between Monday and Friday, 8am - 5pm.


Salary

This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary of £29,264 - £33,510 FTE dependent on experience.

What you’ll be doing: As our new Substance Misuse Recovery Worker, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

* Delivering outstanding care to psychosocial patients, seeking out, listening to, and acting on their feedback - ensuring that their care is personalised and tailored to the individual
* Manage a caseload of patients (around 40) with varying needs, including substance misuse, mental health, trauma etc
* Deliver group sessions on drug use, relapse prevention, overdose awareness, harm reduction etc
* Providing a programme of psychosocial interventions and comprehensive assessments
* Provide information and advice on substance misuse, alcohol, smoking cessation, blood borne viruses and safe sex practices
* Prepare patients for release and transfer, ensuring continuity of care
* Delivering care on a 1-1 basis as well as group sessions

New Substance Misuse Recovery Worker Will

* Have experience within Substance misuse, ideally a prison / secure environment, and ideally within a Recovery Worker / Practitioner role
* Have experience of working within the substance misuse multi-disciplinary framework, which includes housing, social care, health care and mental health pathways
* Have a flexible approach, and excellent communication skills
* Have a non-judgemental and compassionate approach
