Purpose of the Job
The Medical Editor (ME) will work across a range of healthcare communications activities, business development opportunities and marketing activities within HH Global, ensuring the quality of proposals and projects that will be client, HCP or public facing. The ME will be involved in evolving and implementing key processes to ensure the consistency, accuracy and quality of our outputs, and will help train new and existing team members about correct procedures.
Key Responsibilities
* Editing projects to the highest standard, without supervision
* Documenting inconsistencies, inaccuracies and unclear language to enable Medical Writers, Client Services and wider team members to update copy
* Ensuring quality control of project materials and proposals with a focus on consistency, grammar, accuracy
* Reviewing referencing, reference mark-ups and client comments to support Medical Writers in delivering accurate communications
* Developing or evolving the HH Global style guide alongside client-specific style guides
* Taking ownership of content-related quality control processes
* Providing internal training to help improve Scientific Services’ editorial standards
* Confirming figures and tables have been reproduced or redrawn accurately
* Reference checking of materials including accuracy of data and p values (excluding interpretation of information)
* Go-to person for ABPI and NOAH queries in Scientific Services and keeps up to date with developments in the area
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
* Good level of editorial experience, ideally within medical communications or a scientific or academic discipline
* Evidence of previous medical communications work
* Excellent copy editing and proofreading skills
* Experienced in a wide-range of reference styles used in scientific literature
* BSc in a medical or scientific subject; MSc or PhD preferred but not essential
* Ability to meet demanding timelines
* Adaptability and flexibility to changing priorities
* Ability to work as part of a team or solo
* Excellent verbal and written communication
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers and clients
* Mac literacy and experienced in Microsoft Office
