Purpose of the role
To establish and nurture profitable partnerships with both corporate and individual clients. It is the bridge between the bank’s offerings and clients’ needs, ensuring mutual benefit and long‑term success.
Accountabilities
* Manage client relationships to identify the client’s financial goals, challenges and risk tolerance; analyze data from investment portfolios and cash flow to identify trends, insights, and additional services.
* Research clients’ industry trends, regulatory landscape and competitive environment to inform strategic recommendations.
* Design customised solutions that address the client’s specific needs and objectives, incorporating a range of products and services from the bank’s portfolio.
* Communicate the value proposition of proposed solutions, justify recommendations and negotiate terms that benefit both client and bank.
* Provide guidance to clients to support their financial decisions, offering expert investment advice, risk‑management and wealth‑management strategies, and updates on market trends to ensure a positive ongoing relationship.
* Assess financial, legal and operational risks associated with client relationships and implement measures to minimise potential losses.
* Document all client interactions, transactions and agreements to ensure transparency and auditability.
* Monitor client satisfaction, revenue generated and other relevant metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of relationship management.
Director Expectations
Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees; influence decisions outside of own function; manage, coordinate, and enable resourcing, budgeting and policy creation for a significant sub‑function; ensure compliance with regulations; act as main contact point for key clients and, where appropriate, represent the function and business division.
Overall Purpose of Role
Private Banking and Wealth Management offers bespoke banking and investment solutions to high‑net‑worth individuals across the globe. This role focuses on clients in the East of England (Norwich, Ipswich or Cambridge) and provides a comprehensive range of investment advice across all asset classes, wealth‑structuring advice and banking services.
Key Accountabilities
* New business origination: identify, develop and secure new private banking relationships through personal and client referrals, Barclays Group internal networks and corporate and investment banking sources.
* Achieve personal objectives and assist in team targets for new clients, assets and revenues.
* Maintain highest levels of client service and delivery; act as key contact for banking products, credit advice and client queries.
* Deliver high‑quality bespoke advice, maximize value for clients and negotiate best commercial outcomes.
* Act as the key interface between the client and other parts of the Barclays group, including Wealth Advisory, Discretionary Portfolio Management, Investment Advisory Global, Investment & Solutions.
* Provide world‑class financial solutions and discuss markets, issues and opportunities with clients.
* Fully utilise the banker toolset, systems and platforms, and challenge current standards to continuously improve quality.
* Engage with digital technologies, products and solutions that are relevant, and use them to enhance client service.

Build and maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure opportunity streams for new clients, assets and revenues. Collaborate across the organisation and externally to drive performance; exert influence on colleagues and contacts to secure positive outcomes for clients and the business.

* Ensure all activities comply with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays policies and standards.

* Ensure compliance with all Barclays terms and conditions, AML and KYC, product delivery and suitability, capital adequacy, and record keeping.

Person Specification
Strong relationship skills; experience managing the needs of private client individuals and families; expertise in wealth‑management solutions; experience controlling and monitoring risk within a client book; deep understanding of financial markets; high aptitude for the digital landscape and managing evolving client needs; up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant international markets.
