An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Main Outpatients Department at the Royal Sussex County Hospital for a full time Band 5 Registered Nurse.
To work within the clinical environment of this department covering a wide range of specialities, including Cardiac, Allergy, Cardiac Surgery, Vascular, Digestive Diseases, Respiratory, Diabetic and Endocrine clinics. To support clinicians in the clinics. To keep up to date with training to ensure you are working to your full potential. To support and help educate junior members of the team and student nurses.
The post holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team under the supervision & guidance of the Band 7 & and Band 6's. They will develop effective working relationships with consultants, registrars, junior doctors, nurses, patients,carers and reception staff.

This role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route however sponsorship can only be provided where applicants meet the specific requirements set by UKVI, including the relevant skill and salary thresholds (£25000), and any role-specific criteria.
Main duties of the job
To provide high quality of care supporting patients through their outpatient journey whether it be a clinic appointment or a procedure.
To create a welcoming and safe environment
To ensure staff are trained and knowledgeable about the area that they work within
Check stock and equipment to ensure clinics can run efficiently
1. To support patients throughout their outpatient journey. To provide support and education where appropriate.
2. To have excellent analytical and judgemental skills to best care for patients with a variety of conditions.
3. To learn to assist in minor operative procedures including dermatology procedures.
4. To be able to assist in emergency situations according to Trust policy.
5. To assess, develop and help implement patient care

7. Knowledge of the Band 5 Role Computer Literate An understanding of Post registration experience in an acute hospital setting. Understanding of own Accountability and Responsibilities. Aware of Health and Safety issues and Risk Management Aware of the importance of effective and rigorous adherence to infection control requirements

9. Current Professional Registration.
10. Minimal 2 years post registration experience in NHS acute hospital setting
11. Ability to demonstrate continual knowledge and skills acquisitions

Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, be able to communicate unpleasant news sensitively and provide counselling and reassurance, and an ability to demonstrate good communication skills in dealing with difficult situations and communicate with people with barriers to communication such as deafness, learning disabilities and potentially vulnerable patients.

Must be physically able to maneuver equipment within the department as this is an integral part of the job role.Will need to have the ability to handle specimens, blood samples and deal with associated sights and smells. Keyboard skills, manual handling tasks, physical observations and to assist patients with personal hygiene as required.
