Overview
We are looking for a dynamic senior midwifery manager (Band 8A) who is passionate, committed to providing high quality of care and a positive patient experience. The post holder will be primarily responsible for the continuing management of the maternity unit, will be part of a developing improvement journey for East Kent maternity services and must demonstrate the ability to lead change. The role will be highly visible, accessible to women, their families and staff and will focus on improving the fundamental and essential aspects of care to women, including cleanliness, clinical care standards, infection control and quality improvement.
Responsibilities
* Lead the management of the maternity unit and support the development of a maternity High Dependency unit within the delivery suite.
* Develop and apply strategies to improve clinical care standards, infection control and quality improvement work.
* Collaborate with the wider senior midwifery management team to ensure effective communication systems, share learning and drive quality improvements.
* Manage discrete aspects of patient care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, aligned to Trust policy and advanced practice standards.
* Contribute to quality improvement in nursing and midwifery practice to improve the quality of care to patients.
* Attend the midwifery management on‑call rota and lead change throughout the department.
Qualifications
* Band 8A midwifery experience with senior management responsibilities.
* Demonstrated leadership, facilitation learning, evidence, research and development skills.
* Strong communication, problem solving, teamwork and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Knowledge of NHS maternity policy, advanced and consultant level practice standards.
