Responsibilities
The successful applicant will join a dynamic team of four Consultant Paediatric Surgeons and work 40 hours per week on a fixed‑term six‑month contract. The role is based at the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital (RACH) and involves providing a range of General Paediatric Surgical and Neonatal services to children and young people in Grampian, with additional support to services throughout North Scotland, including the Highlands and the Shetland and Orkney Islands. The surgeon will also contribute to the acute out‑of‑hours rota (five paediatric surgeons) and participate in a “surgeon‑of‑the‑week” system for daytime acute service. Clinical duties include undertaking clinics at RACH and peripheral hospitals, and delivering care at RACH’s Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, its Accident and Emergency Department and other specialist services.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold the FRCS(Paed) or an equivalent qualification. Full registration with a licence to practice with the GMC is required before the start of the post.
