The Business Services and Outsourcing team plays a key role in delivering sustainable value to clients by providing accounting, payroll and compliance services and tying together BDO’s services domestically and internationally. Build deep relationships with clients from SMEs to large multinational groups, advising on business challenges and opening doors for other teams. Overview
Step into a dynamic role where you’ll manage a portfolio of around 1,000 client payrolls. Your expertise in PAYE and NIC legislation will be crucial. Tasks include entering starters, leavers, benefits and allowances into the payroll database, calculating leavers’ pay and statutory payments, processing P45s, distributing payslips, running payroll reports, uploading FPS and EPS reports to HMRC, responding to client queries, handling HMRC correspondence, assisting with BACS uploads and quality checking payrolls.
Beyond payroll, you’ll handle general administrative duties, support supervisors, follow firm policies, accurately record time, and comply with risk management procedures. Ideally you’re studying for a professional qualification or have equivalent experience. Attention to detail and effective communication are key.
Key Responsibilities & Qualifications
* Qualification with the CIPP – a Payroll Technician Certificate, Year 1 of the Foundation Degree in Payroll Management, or equivalent, is highly desirable.
* Strong work ethic and willingness to assist team members when required.
* Ability to multi‑task and prioritise payroll workload.
* Good interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
* Knowledge of changes to legislation affecting payroll.
