Safeguard Armour, a leading innovator in tactical equipment and clothing, seeks a strategic and results-oriented Assistant Commercial Manager to spearhead our sales and marketing initiatives, spearhead tender victories, and drive operational excellence across departments.

We offer a diverse product line, distribute to a network of partners across 50 countries, and fulfill contracts with government agencies like police, special forces, military, and navy through competitive tenders.
Our revenue is £7million looking to grow to £20-30m over the next 2 years, so plenty of oppurtunity to grow with the company.
You should be ambitious, diligent, organised, good with processes and commercially aware.
This role involves cross collaboration with multiple teams, a high verbal and written skill of British-English langugae is required. Ideally you are local to Leeds or can relocate.
The Role:
In this pivotal role, you'll be the architect of Safeguard Armour's commercial success. You will lead a team of 3 Account Managers, oversee marketing, champion tender victories, and collaborate extensively with departments to ensure seamless operational support.
Responsibilities:
Sales & Channel Leadership:
* Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies for distributor channels and government tenders.
* Set and monitor ambitious sales targets, providing ongoing coaching and mentorship to the Account Management team.
* Identify and qualify new sales leads within target markets across 50 countries.
* Craft and deliver winning sales presentations to distributors and government agencies.
Tender Management Expertise:
* Lead the tender management process, overseeing the development of compelling bids that showcase Safeguard Armour's capabilities for police, special forces, military, and navy needs.
* Partner with internal teams (engineering, production, quality control) to gather and present technical data that meets strict government tender requirements.
* Manage timelines, budgets, and resources for all tender submissions, ensuring adherence to deadlines and compliance regulations.
* Analyze tender results to identify areas for improvement in future bids.
Marketing & Supply Chain Collaboration:
* Work closely with the marketing team to develop targeted campaigns (digital, content, trade shows) reaching distributors and government agencies.
* Partner with the supply chain team to ensure production capacity aligns with customer demand for sales and tenders.
* Identify co-marketing opportunities with distributors, leveraging their local expertise to maximize market penetration.
* Provide marketing and sales insights to guide product development, ensuring new products meet evolving market needs.
Operational Support Across Departments:
* Collaborate with the product development team to translate customer and tender requirements into actionable product specifications.
* Partner with the quality control team to ensure products meet the stringent quality standards demanded by distributors and government agencies.
* Work with the logistics team to streamline delivery processes for distributors and government clients, ensuring on-time and cost-effective fulfillment.
Commercial Strategy & Analytics:
* Analyze market research and sales data to identify trends and capitalize on opportunities.
* Develop and implement a comprehensive commercial strategy encompassing distributors, government tenders, and export markets.
* Set and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress towards commercial goals.
* Prepare reports and manage budgets for the sales, marketing, and tender management functions.
Qualifications:
* Proven track record of success in B2B sales and marketing, with experience in the tactical gear industry a strong plus.
* Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and inspire a team.
* In-depth knowledge of government procurement processes and a successful track record of winning tenders within the tactical gear sector.
* Experience in developing and implementing effective sales strategies across multiple channels.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including distributors, government agencies, and departmental teams.
* Fluency in English and additional languages relevant to target markets is a plus.
