Overview
Job summary: Replacement post within the Vascular Interventional Radiology Department joining the current team of 9 Vascular Interventional Radiologists across Leeds General Infirmary (2 radiology theatres and 1 hybrid theatre) and St James's University Hospital (2 radiology theatres). There is a separate Vascular Interventional Radiology on call rota. The successful applicant should possess FRCR (or equivalent) and should be included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview. In accordance with consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register.
Key responsibilities
Applicants should have the skills to manage all Vascular Interventional Radiology emergencies, in line with the service provided by the current team. The appointee will join colleagues in delivering a range of sub-specialty services/interventions and will contribute to the longitudinal clinical management of patients across a broad range of clinical pathways. A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, service improvement and a research interest is desirable. Consideration will be given to applicants who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.

Job responsibilities
In relation to this post, the appointee will contribute to and develop the diverse portfolio of vascular interventional radiology services delivered in Leeds, including expansion of current and development of new services.
OBJECTIVES OF THE POST
This replacement post is required to meet demand for vascular radiology in Leeds, West Yorkshire and the Northeast of England, including support of tertiary and quaternary services (eg. transplantation). The postholder will contribute to daytime and on-call vascular radiology services, and may develop a subspecialty interest while maintaining competence in core vascular interventional radiology skills to contribute to OOH and acute components (including emergency embolisation for haemorrhage and acute EVAR for ruptured AAA).

Qualifications – Essential
* FRCR or equivalent qualification.
* Hold full GMC Registration with a license to practice.
* YOUR GMC NUMBER MUST BE CLEARLY STATED IN YOUR APPLICATION.
* Eligibility to work in the UK.
* Up to date and fit to practice safely.
* Should have completed a recognised training programme in Clinical Radiology with CCT, or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
Desirable
* Relevant higher degree.
Experience – Essential
* Demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in Clinical Radiology.
* Higher training and independence in Vascular Interventional Radiology, including independence in performing EVAR and TEVAR.
* Evidence of continuous career progression.
Desirable
* Experience in performing complex endovascular aortic repair.
* Experience in image-guided ablation (Liver, Kidney and Lung).
Training & Research – Essential
* Should have completed a recognised training programme in Clinical Radiology with CCT, or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
* Evidence of the ability to carry out medical research.
Desirable
* Research and publication experience; supervision of research; ideas for future research.
Teaching, Audit, Management & Other – Essential
* Experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors.
* Experience in regular clinical audit; understanding of current NHS issues.
* Well organised with good time management; effective interpersonal skills; ability to work within a team; ability to work under pressure.
* Hold full GMC Registration with a license to practice.
* Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (proposed CCT date within 6 months of interview) or Portfolio Pathway; international applicants should comply with GMC specialty registration process.
Desirable
o Attendance on Appraisal Techniques and Small Group Teaching Workshops; medical education qualification (PG Cert/PG Diploma/MSc); attendance at recognised management courses; management experience.
