Overview
Cowley Manor is a luxury boutique hotel located in the Cotswolds. The property offers 31 rooms, a bar and a restaurant with an terrace, grounds and a C-Side Spa. Job: Bar Manager at Cowley Manor. Based in: Cowley, Cheltenham. Reports to: F&B Manager.
Responsibilities
* Operational Management: Oversee the bar operations, ensuring the smooth running of the bar; create the cocktails and drinks menu, updating the menu at least once per season; ensure menus are up-to-date; prepare and serve high-quality cocktails while upholding the best drinking experience without a hint of pretension; ensure consistent, high-quality beverages are served; create a welcoming environment for customers, assess needs, and make recommendations; collaborate with the Restaurant Manager to handle customer complaints and provide adequate solutions; address customer feedback and implement actions; propose rapid and well-thought-out solutions for unforeseen circumstances; oversee cleanliness of staff and bar area, monitor health hazards and regulatory violations; apply all Food and Beverage Regulations; report maintenance actions and repairs needed to the General Manager.
* Team Management: In cooperation with Human Resources, participate in recruitment and onboarding of the bar team; manage the bar team schedule and ensure full staffing during peak times; train and supervise the bar team, encouraging upselling; manage a training plan for the team and support career development; handle staff complaints and report issues to the General Manager for disciplinary procedures; conduct regular performance reviews and strategize for improving staff performance in partnership with the General Manager; create a positive work environment, high employee engagement and retention; ensure all legal requirements are adhered to (Wage and Hour/Breaks, Health and Safety, etc.); record hours worked, absences, lateness, days off, holidays and sick days for each team member; implement opening and closing procedures and verify adherence.
* Administrative and Financial Management: Monitor inventory and stock; optimise the profitability of the venue by managing margins through beverage sales; monitor key performance indicators and take corrective actions as needed; maintain payroll consistency; maintain staff records and track hours; carry out regular reporting on activities.
* Inventory/Items: Alcohols & Spirits, Softs, Fruits, Glassware, Bartending materials (shakers, strainers, etc), Bartending accessories (napkins, straws, etc).
Qualifications
* Experience in a similar role within a comparable venue.
* Excellent spirits & classic cocktails knowledge.
* Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
* Well spoken with excellent communication skills.
* Attention to detail and customer needs; social, engaging, and motivated.
* Flexibility to respond quickly and positively to a range of work situations.
* Knowledge of other languages would be beneficial.
* Proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
