We are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to join a People & Culture team on a 12-month fixed term contract. Based in Northampton, this role is responsible for delivering a high-quality, accurate, and compliant payroll service across a multi-site organisation.
The Payroll Manager will lead the end-to-end payroll operation, including pensions and benefits administration, ensuring payroll is processed efficiently and in line with statutory requirements. This role plays a key part in supporting employees and stakeholders while driving continuous improvement across the payroll function.
Key responsibilities include:
End-to-end management of monthly payroll, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and statutory compliance
Processing all payroll changes across the employee lifecycle, including starters, leavers, and contractual amendments
Oversight of pensions and benefits administration, ensuring compliance with scheme and legislative requirements
Managing payroll reconciliations, reporting, audits, and year-end activities
Submitting accurate returns and payments to HMRC, pension providers, and other third parties
Acting as the main point of contact for payroll queries, providing clear and professional guidance
Supporting and coordinating payroll colleagues to ensure deadlines and standards are met
Driving continuous improvement across payroll processes and controls
Maintaining data integrity, confidentiality, and GDPR compliance
