Job overview
Currently within the team, we have Nurses (RMN and RNC), Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, and we welcome clinicians from a wide range of professional backgrounds with experience managing Children and Young people in crisis. The role focuses on urgent mental health risk assessment and management, involving collaboration with other agencies as part of safety planning. A significant part of the team’s work involves supporting young people admitted to acute trusts and ensuring their safe transition back to the community.
The team operates 24/7 with a full shift rotation including days and nights. Shifts may include long days, earlies, lates, and nights. There is an opportunity to discuss flexible working options with the right candidate.

Main duties of the job
The role involves urgent mental health risk assessment and management, collaboration with other agencies for safety planning, supporting young people admitted to acute trusts, and ensuring their safe transition to the community. The successful applicant will manage the crisis team phone line, handle referrals and escalations, support junior team members by chairing safety huddles and MDT meetings, assist with decision-making, and signposting. They will also be expected to be the SCOD for the Intensive Home Treatment Team, manage allocations and the whiteboard, and coordinate escalation, child protection, and multi-agency meetings.

The candidate should have an interest or experience in supporting young people in crisis, work well under pressure, make autonomous decisions, and hold a professional registration such as nursing, occupational therapy, or social work. A minimum of two years post-qualification experience is required.

* Minimum 2 years risk management and assessment experience as a band 6
* Valid driving license and willingness to travel across Kent
* Good communication skills and computer literacy
* Experience as a band 7 clinician
Knowledge
* Experience with children's mental health and understanding of complex needs

* Full member of an appropriate registered professional body (NMC)
